I’m a 1st generation Canadian born and raised in Hamilton to diverse and wonderful parents, the middle of 4 children. When I was a small girl my parents used to pack us all up and spend weeks camping on the shores of Lake Huron, then they bought a cottage on Moon River, Georgian Bay. They would pack all 6 of us into the car, with the boat in tow and drive all the way to Parry Sound and then pile all of us and everything into the boat to then travel 36 miles by water to the cottage. This is where my love began. I’m really not sure how or why, but it was just a magical place. No hydro, no running water, no TV, not even walls between the rooms. There was, however, water and rocks and sky that spanned forever, trees and wildlife and silence like I had never known. On July 20,1969 at a neighbours with a generator we watched Neil Armstrong land on the moon, from the Moon on a 8” b&w TV. Absolutey incredible.

I went to school got my ECE and taught, then became supervisor, married, had a wonderful family and every single summer we trekked to Georgian Bay.

In 2013, my doctor advised me to find some activity to relieve stress, I chose an evening ceramics class, with my friend at Mohawk College in Brantford, it was amazing. It was cathartic, almost like what was missing in my life. My 1st pieces were so awful but filled me with joy and peace and as I have travelled through my clay journey it has grown and become an integral part of me .

In the spring of 2022, my husband and I moved with our dogs to Shallow Lake. Now, everyday I’m surrounded by the forest with Georgian Bay and Lake Huron minutes away in either direction. It has been truly inspirational and a complete bonus to my clay journey.
