Emily enjoys Ink Washing – painting with ink on rice paper or silk in two typical traditional Chinese painting styles, mainly in Freehand though. Her brushwork paintings capture the beauty of nature, ranging from flowers, particularly peonies and native species, to birds, to landscapes. While Ink Washing has been a mainstay in her life and is central to her aesthetic, she has also delved into acrylics learned from local artists in recent years. Ginkgo Footprints, Emily’s garden and studio, has been a true passion and fun project.
