I enjoy creating whimsical and unique art work from my home on the Shores of Georgian Bay in Collingwood Ontario. My work is a combination of India ink and encaustic wax, which is an ancient painting medium made from bees wax and tree resin. The wax is melted down and then brushed onto a wood cradle board. Each layer must be fused together using a torch and each piece has approximately 8 layers of wax. The end result is a resin or porcelain like finish.
I prefer to work abstractly drawing my inspiration from the wondrous nature of Georgian Bays landscape of trees and rocks. By combing simple lines and vibrant colors, I can create eye catching and one of a kind art work. I strive to capture nature’s beauty in a playful way which I hope to bring joy and smiles to the viewer.
